You might have missed this bit of news last week: New reports show that not just Exxon, but the entire American Petroleum Institute (API) including most of the biggest oil companies on earth ran a task force to monitor and share climate research between 1979 and 1983.1
This is the smoking gun we've been looking for -- a big, coordinated cover up that proves Big Oil knew about climate change more than 20 years ago, and lied about it to protect their profit margins even as lives and livelihoods were lost to climate chaos.

Big Oil and their allies in Congress have been having a happy holiday. Despite tens of thousands of us speaking out in opposition -- including an especially impassioned plea from students at Historically Black Colleges and Universities on the front lines of climate chaos and extreme energy2 -- Congress voted to lift the ban on exporting crude oil.3
But thanks to the award winning reporters at Inside Climate news, we now know that we'll laugh last. The same team that broke the story of Exxon's climate cover up, now has the scoop on how the whole family tree at Big Oil conspired to mislead, confuse and obfuscate climate science, just at the moment we needed to act.
And now that we know the truth, nothing can stop us from overturning the Big Oil barons and their political backers. We're already pressuring the Department of Justice (DOJ) and leading Attorneys General from California to New York and beyond to open investigations. Plus, our movement is planning a massive mobilization in May to shut down fossil fuel infrastructure - including Big Oil's bomb trains, pipelines and export terminals.
