This week the California Attorney General's office, led by Kamala Harris, announced they will investigate Exxon's climate cover-up. Click here to sign our thank you card to AG Harris for her leadership on bringing Exxon and Big Oil to justice.

Friend,

Take bow, pat yourself on the back and give yourself a firm handshake -- you did it. Just hours after our latest action online this week, we got word that California Attorney General (AG) Kamala Harris will be launching an investigation into Exxon's climate cover-up.1 Harris follows New York AG, Eric Schneiderman, who launched an investigation last year to determine if Exxon has been misleading investors since the 1970s, when their own research revealed the reality and dangers of climate change. The research also revealed that the burning of fossil fuels is the primary cause of climate disruption.

Instead of taking a leadership role in reducing global warming pollution and investing in renewable sources, Exxon funded both think tanks and politicians who deny climate science. But this week, they are feeling the heat from the two largest states in the country and the world's seventh largest economy. We joined an awesome coalition including friends from Climate Hawks Vote, Climate Truth, Oil Change International and the Union of Concerned Scientists to get AG Harris to do the right thing, and our hard work has paid off!

Nearly 30,000 members, like you, let AG Harris know to do the right thing, and it looks like she's answered the CAll to bring Exxon to justice. Click here to sign our Thank You card to Kamala for doing the right thing.

Many are cheering the move by AG Harris, including billionaire philanthropist, Tom Steyer of NextGen Climate who stated, "We don't have all the facts yet, but I think there is enough that has been revealed that it's totally appropriate that (California) be conducting this investigation."2 This is a great step in the right direction, and hopefully we can get even more Attorneys General to seek justice for their states. Stay tuned for more information on that front, but for now enjoy this victory.
