It's no secret that Big Oil not only taints our water, air, climate and land, they also taint our political process with donations and lobbyists. Sign here to tell all California lawmakers plain and simple: Stop Taking Crude Cash.

Friend,

We all know about the corrupting influence of Big Oil in our political process -- and as crazy as it may seem for me to say this, I can't blame them. Big Oil buys politicians like you and I buy candy because too many lawmakers are willing to take their money. And in return, Big Oil gets a bunch of political puppets who vote against or block legislation that #ActsOnClimate, #KeepsItInTheGround or is otherwise protects our climate at the expense of fossil fuel profits.

In no place is this more apparent than our State of California. In the first six months of 2015 alone, Big Oil spent $6.2 million lobbying legislators and state officials.1 And that's nothing compared to the whopping $143 million dropped by corporations like Chevron and ConocoPhillips over the last 15 years.2  In fact, Big Oil is spending nearly $1 million per month to block legislation designed to prevent future oil spills, like the one in Santa Barbara, ban fracking and clean up toxic air from oil refineries.

We've already seen what happens when our lawmakers fall into the oil pit -- they vote against our climate, our water, our air and they vote against us. There is a direct correlation between the amount of money Big Oil spends and the increase in fracking operations in Kern County, coastal areas and SoCal ocean waters.2 We need to remind these lawmakers who they work for, US NOT THEM.

That's why we're teaming up with groups like League of Conservation Voters, Climate Hawks Vote, Honor the Earth and Interfaith Power & Light to get oil money out of California's politics. Click here to tell California legislators to Stop Taking Crude Cash.

The extent of Big Oil's money is so massive, they can even hide some of their operations from the public. Last year we learned that oil and gas companies have used fracking at least 203 times in the past two decades -- but the public and even lawmakers didn't know about it.3 That just takes the cake, but as long as legislative officials let Big Oil's money pollute the political process, their products will continue to pollute California.

We can't allow the Golden State to be blackened by dirty fossil fuels because a handful of lawmakers are working for special interests. It's time to take a stand and let lawmakers know they have to pick a team: We the People or We the Polluters. Click here to make sure they get the message.

Thanks for sounding off,
