Climate denial is just plain scary. Unfortunately starting in January it's going to get even scarier when important Congressional committees are chaired by climate deniers like James Inhofe. Despite all of the science that shows a pressing need to address our climate crisis, their favorite response is "I'm not a scientist"
I've said before, I'm not sure even Inhofe and his ilk really believe the denial they are spouting. You may even believe they're full of crap (or a less polite word for the same idea). But the fact is that these lawmakers are about to make decisions with serious implications for our planet. So I came up with a way to honor you for donating, while also reminding you to put climate denial where the sun don't shine...which is appropriate since none of these guys support solar energy either.
Donate $10 or more, we will deliver a special roll of toilet paper -- call it CDTP, or Climate Denial Toilet Paper -- to the offices of one of these ranking Congressional Climate deniers. Donate $25 or more, and we'll deliver a roll to them, and send one to you as well!
While all climate deniers create an unsettling feeling in my stomach, I have identified four lawmakers in particular whose statements could induce irritable bowel syndrome. This quartet of quacks have made some of the most outlandish statements about the most pressing challenge in history. Take Representative Joe Barton (R-TX-06) who stated. "I think there's a divergence of evidence...I would point out if you're a believer in the Bible, one would have to say the Great Flood is an example of climate change. And that certainly wasn't because mankind overdeveloped hydrocarbon energy,"1 or Senator Jeff Sessions (R-AL) who remarked that he, "is offended by the views of climate scientists,"2 and then there's Senator-elect Bill Cassidy (R-LA) who offered one of my favorite theories on the cause of climate change...a shift of the earth's axis rather than an increase in greenhouse gas emissions.3 However, there is one lawmaker who sits at the the top of the pile...Senator James Inhofe (R-OH) who literally wrote the book on climate denial, "The Greatest Hoax" in which he writes, "God is still up there, and he promised to maintain the seasons and that cold and heat would never cease as long as the earth remains."4
You've been there for us before when it comes to exposing climate deniers and holding them accountable. From demanding that booksellers shelve Inhofe's book as science fiction, to delivering "quit crying and fund the EPA" pacifiers to leading Republicans during the Government shutdown, and so much more. Now I am calling on you again to help us fight the smear tactics of climate deniers.
I won't mince words...we have the fight of our lives and life of our planet ahead of us. To help flush the excrement that is climate denial down the drain, we're going to need all the help we can get. Can you please chip in and help us wipe the slate of climate denial clean?
Thank you for taking (Environmental) action,
