Environment America Voter Action

The voice of your state environmental group -- and others throughout the country -- in the election process.

Supporting elected officials who fight for a better environment

Protecting the environment is a 24-7-365 (366 in presidential election years) job.

Most of that time, that means doing basic research of problems and solutions, informing our neighbors, lobbying legislators and bureaucrats, and taking polluters to court.

And sometimes, it means helping elect government officials who will do the right thing without having to be prompted... and defeating politicians who will toss away the quality of our environment without a moment’s hesitation.

Environment America Voter Action exists to do that part of the job

We’re the voice in national, state, and local elections of people like you: members of the state environmental groups which are part of the Environment America network.

We support candidates -- regardless of party affiliation -- who do more than talk the environmental talk. Because we see them in action before they get on the ballot, we know which candidates will do the right thing on the not-so-easy votes... and which will cave to polluter pressure.

We focus on the tough races, the ones where victory will wrest control of a government from climate deniers, the ones where defeat will roll back decades of progress.

We support candidates who push the envelope, who stick their necks out to promote a bold vision of a cleaner and greener world.

And we back problem solvers, those who reach across partisan and ideological divides to develop measures that protect the environment for all of us.

Our track record

Since its founding in 2008, Environment America Voter Action has endorsed and supported hundreds of candidates for national, state, and local office.

During the 2017-2018 election cycle, 80 percent of EAVA-backed candidates won election, including 16 who defeated incumbents.

This year, we've targeted over 200 races in 37 states, plus the Presidency.

Among the candidates we've supported in the past four years are:
